Proverbs 3:27
‘Withhold not good from them to whom it is due,
when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.’ (KJV)
THE EAGLES HAVENS – Welcome to “The Eagles Haven,” a retreat for active duty and veteran military, 1st responders including law enforcement firefighters, EMS, dispatchers and pastors/chaplains, – ‘Defenders of America’ and their families. The Eagles Haven is a place for respite. Our mission is to provide a safe and peaceful environment for those who are serving or have served our country and communities.
The Eagles Haven is a place where veterans and 1st responders and pastors can come to relax, recharge, and connect with others who have shared similar experiences. Our retreat offers a variety of activities and programs designed to promote physical and mental well-being.
We understand that the transition to civilian life can be difficult for veterans and first responders, and we are here to support them every step of the way. Our staff is made up of skilled people who have a heart to work with individuals who have experienced trauma and are dedicated to helping our guests find the resources they need to heal.
Whether you are looking for a quiet place to reflect, or you want to take part in group activities and connect with other veterans and first responders, The Eagles Haven will have something for everyone. We invite you to come and experience the tranquility and peace that our retreat has to offer.
We have acquired the facilities in northeastern Washington state and are in the early stages of development. Join our Whitewater Ministries newsletter for regular updates and details.
Our Service Dog Program ‘HOUNDS for HEROES’ will assist individuals with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) by performing tasks that help to alleviate the symptoms of the disorder. These tasks may include:
- Providing physical support and balance for the individual during anxiety attacks or flashbacks
- Interrupting or distracting the individual during periods of intense anxiety or negative thoughts
- Providing a sense of security and calming presence
- Accompanying the individual in public to provide emotional support
Service dogs can be trained to recognize the signs of an impending anxiety attack and intervene to provide comfort and support. They can also be trained to perform tasks that help to ground the individual in the present moment, such as deep pressure therapy or guiding the individual to engage in a calming activity.
It’s important to note that service dogs are not a one-size-fits-all solution and may not be appropriate for everyone with PTSD. It’s important to speak with a mental health professional to determine the best course of treatment for your specific needs.
Our Equine Program will help individuals with PTSD to overcome their trauma. The specialist works with the individual to learn how to interact with the horse and use it as a tool to help the him or her express their feelings and better understand their trauma.
The program will also use horses to teach individuals with PTSD how to better cope with their symptoms. The individual will learn how to observe and interact with the horse, as well as how to better manage their emotions.
The individual will use the horse as a metaphor to work through their trauma and learn how to better manage their symptoms.
The specialist also works with the individual to create a safe, trusting environment in which he or she can explore their feelings and find ways to better manage their symptoms.
JJ via LinkedIn – “This is absolutely one of the most kind and extremely generous ways to support those that sacrifice for the greater cause of our nation. Joe Havens thank you for doing this.”
Whats Happening at the Haven?
One step at time.
As you might guess proper facilities and staff are necessary for programs like these and at significant costs.
We believe that our ‘Defenders of America’ deserve to be cared for and assisted to transition into the peaceful and comfortable life that they deserve.
